Mark is a 1988 graduate of Our Lady of the Lakes. Athletics have always been an important part of Mark’s life, playing multiple sports during high school and at Michigan Tech University. He believes that playing a team sport builds character, instills responsibility and teaches valuable life lessons, and loves watching players learn and grow with the sport.
He is married to Colleen (McKee) Meszler, also a 1988 OLL graduate, and has two daughters, Madison and Sydnie. Madison is a junior at Michigan State University and Sydnie will be a freshman at Western Michigan University this fall. Mark’s love for volleyball and passion for coaching evolved from his daughters playing the sport since fifth grade. Both competed as four-year starting Setters at Holly High School.
Mark is Director and Elite Coach at CHAOS VOLLEYBALL, a local travel club in which he and his wife began 12 years ago. He has coached U10-U18 at all levels, as well as Middle School and High School teams. He is skilled in moving teams forward while appreciating the diverse contributions of individual players.
Mark is thrilled to return to his alma mater as the Varsity Volleyball Coach, and to continue with the traditions of Laker Volleyball, while building a successful program.
“After only a short time, I am already impressed with the work ethic, responsibility, dedication and drive of this very talented group of athletes. It is going to be a great season of volleyball this year with substantial growth and success. This roster is hungry and motivated to achieve the high goals and expectations they have set for themselves. You don’t want to miss the LAKER’S 2021 VOLLEYBALL SEASON! Come and support the team playing an exciting sport and we will see you in Battle Creek for the State Finals!”
