State Sen. Ruth Johnson, R-Holly, celebrated National Reading Month with an elementary school in Waterford this week.

Throughout March, Johnson has been promoting the importance of reading at local schools by sharing a story with them, including a first- and second-grade class at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School.

“Reading is important to a successful education and lays the foundation to a bright and rewarding future,” Johnson said. “It is always a great time sharing a love of reading to young people, and I encourage parents to join me in celebrating National Reading Month by picking up a book and reading to a child.”
