Our Lady of the Lakes athletic department is excited to announce the hiring of two new varsity head coaches. Dan Webster (’80) has joined OLL as head coach of the varsity baseball program and Marc Summers, will take over head coaching duties for the boys varsity basketball team.

No stranger to Our Lady of the Lakes, Webster held two previous coaching stints at OLL, from 1988-1991 and from 2001-2008.  In his 12 years at the helm, OLL compiled a 244-136-1 record, earning three league titles, seven district & four regional championships, one Catholic League 2nd Division championship, and one Class D State Championship in 1991.Dan Webster, Varsity Baseball Coach

“Coach Webster will instill winning like he always has both on and off the field,” said Chris Newell, OLL 1991 State Champion and current manager of the USPBL’s Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers. “Every player that goes through his program becomes a better player, but more importantly, a better man, husband and father. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t feel a sense of pride and luck that I was able to play for a coach who had impacted so many lives, especially mine!”

It is an exciting year for Laker baseball as varsity games will once again be played in the ‘backyard,’ having played the previous five seasons off-campus. The home opener for the Laker varsity baseball team is slated for Tuesday, April 11.

Marc Summers, Varsity Boys Basketball

Continuing with its proud tradition of alumni coaches, Marc Summers will take over for Paul Robak (‘94) who served as head coach of the boys varsity basketball program the for the last four seasons. “Our Lady of the Lakes is grateful to Coach Robak for all that he has done for the boys basketball program,” said President of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School, Richard Vanden Boom. “He has had tremendous success the past four years and we look forward to him developing our CYO boys program for the high school.”

Summers previously served as head coach of the Laker girls varsity basketball program from 2003-2005 and has spent the previous four seasons on the bench as a boys varsity assistant. A 1998 graduate of OLL, Summers attended St. Mary’s College on a basketball scholarship. He and his wife, Amanda (also a Lakes ‘98 graduate), have three children currently attending Our Lady of the Lakes.
