The Michigan High School Power Lifting Association State meet Powerlifting State Meet was held March 9-10, 2018 at Lake Orion High School. Our Lady of the Lakes sent three state qualifiers to the competition.
On day one, over 580 JV lifters competed. Freshman Bailee Pfahl’s weight class was the largest with 38 girls competing. She did not place but she achieved new personal records. In approximately a month she increased her over all total by 50 lbs. Her over all total for States was 400 lbs. Sophomore Kristina Carver set and now holds three state records: 240 lbs squat, 270 lbs deadlift, and overall total of 620 lbs. Kristina took 1st place in her weight class and now is the State Champion.

Day two was the Varsity competitions. Senior Stephanie Carver competed in a very tough weight class. She earned an overall total of 645 lbs and tied for 6th place. In state meets ties are decided by the lifter’s weight. Stephanie ultimately placed 7th in her weight class.
Congratulations to all three of our Laker Powerlifting girls! With Kristina named as State Champion, Our Lady of the Lakes now has a State Champion in all four divisions: JV Girls – Kristina Carver, JV Boys – Anthony Clark, Varsity Girls, Bianca Ramirez, and Varsity Boys – Anthony Clark.
