Lakes 7/8 Baseball needed to sweep Shrine on Saturday in order to make the playoffs, but they fell short as they lost both games (6-1 & 4-2). In game one, Nick Blose fanned 8 batters pitching a complete game. He allowed 2 earned runs over 7 innings while throwing only 67 pitches. In game 2, Holtie Ware and William Burton combined for 9 strikeouts to hold Shrine to only 4 runs (2 earned).

Coach Blose commented after the game, “Our pitching was extremely good in both games, but we missed some plays in the field that led to several unearned runs. Justin Sigler hit the ball very well today, but overall Shrine pitchers kept our bats in check. I was very impressed how the boys cheered each other on in game two even though the playoffs were no longer a possibility. What impressed me even more was that several players offered to sit out so that their teammates could get extended playing time in our second game. The boys were competitive all season and I truly believe when our seventh and eighth graders are in their sophomore and junior years, along with this year’s freshman class, that Coach Webster could have some state championship contending seasons ahead! The future of Lakes baseball looks bright.”
