Our Lady of the Lakes 5/6 CYO football opened the season with a 33-6 victory over Holy Family last Saturday. A Holy Family touchdown with less than 30 seconds left in the game spoiled Lakes shutout bid. A well balanced scoring attack led by Geno Seets (2 TD’s including a pick 6!) and touchdowns from Gavin Bond, Zac Staelgraeve and Dylan Hamel.
Coach Briolat commented after the game “It was a great way to open the season. Our defense played very well and our secondary led by Zac Staelgraeve (INT), Alex Asai and Jack Blose did a great job in coverage. Our starting defense held Holy Family to negative yardage. All 31 players got into the game and gained valuable experience. We need to tighten up in several areas prior to our next game.”
Lakes opens division play this Friday, August 30 at 4:30 p.m. against St. Lawrence at Wisner.
