Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School students had the opportunity to compete against other students from Waterford schools in the Club Level finals of the Optimist International Oratorical Contest. Each presented a four-five minute speech to an audience at Waterford Township Hall that answered the question: “Is There a Fine Line Between Optimism and Reality?”
Points were awarded based on poise, content of speech, delivery & presentation, and overall effectiveness. Four of our students were awarded scholarships. The winner of the Waterford Optimist Club Level was our very own eighth grader
Mahana Gallmeyer. She will go on to compete at the Zone Level next month.
Club Level Winner: Mahana Gallmeyer
