Behind a stout defense, Our Lady of the Lakes 5/6 football rolled to their 3rd straight win on Saturday against Notre Dame Marist Academy 25-0. Lakes held Marist to -5 yards of offense and did not allow a first down for the game. Lakes opened the scoring in the first quarter thanks to a 55 yard Hayden Houghton TD. Geno Seets scored two TD’s (11 yards, 54 yds) as Lakes closed the first half up 19-0. Kurt Briolat added a 16 yard 4th quarter touchdown to close out the scoring on the afternoon. Lakes took a knee at the Marist 1 yard line to end the game.
Coach Briolat commented after the game, “While we still have several things to work on, our defense played extremely well. To not allow a first down is impressive and represents what Laker football is all about. Our first team defense played one series. The two defenses we played the rest of the game was a mix of starters and reserves, so many of our players gained valuable experience this afternoon. I reminded the boys that we need to continue to improve each week, as our upcoming opponents are solid football teams.”
Lakes looks to make it 4 straight wins this Saturday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. against Our Lady of Refuge at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s.
