After a 2 year break, OLL 5th & 6th grade students picked up the Spring camping tradition. We enjoyed an exciting 3 day/2night adventure at the beautiful, 1,250 acre Camp Tamarack in Ortonville, MI. The weather was exceptional, the students were excited, and our fabulous Laker parents were plentiful. This was the perfect combination for an outstanding outdoor learning experience. Our days were filled with activities such as canoeing, archery, outdoor cooking, rock climbing, zip lining, and high ropes. The students enjoyed competing in mock olympic games and spending time around the campfire. They also learned to work as a team, to support each other as they stretched their comfort zones, and to reach a new level of independence all while experiencing the great outdoors of Michigan. These are the skills that they will bring back with them to apply throughout their lives. All the students achieved more than they thought they would and should be proud that they helped their classmates do the same.
