The CYO Our Lady of the Lakes 7/8 Football team steamrolled to their first 4 – 0 start since 2014 with a convincing win over Our Lady of Refuge on Saturday. A pair of William Burton TD passes to tight end Brody Kosin sealed the victory for the Lakers. It was a 40 minute battle and a complete team victory. Head coach Chris Mersino stated, “We always seem to trip over ourselves on that red carpet down there. Not sure what it is, but we got the job done.”
On defense, the Lakers played shut down football again, giving up only 18 points in 4 games so far this year. “[Grant] Summers and [Dylan] Larsen made some key plays for us. They stepped up,” said Mersino. “We play defense. We are Lakers…that’s what we do.”
The Lakers play next this Saturday, September 21 at 10 a.m. against St Peter Lutheran played at Lutheran North, Macomb.
