An Alex Asai first quarter touchdown (46 yards) opened the scoring for Our Lady of the Lakes 5/6 CYO Football team. Lakes added to their lead in the 2nd quarter as both Geno Seets (48 yard run) and Dylan Hamel (15 yard reception) found the end zone staking Lakes to a 19-0 halftime lead. Lakes added to their lead on a 3rd quarter Gavin Bond 58 yard punt return. Alex Asai’s second touchdown (26 yards) closed out the scoring late in the 4th quarter.
Lakes defense was led defensive ends Latane Ware and Max Mersino both of whom had a sack and forced a St. Lawrence fumble. Inside linebackers Hayden Houghton and Brody Denver helped lead a defensive blockade, which held St. Lawrence to two first downs and less than 15 yard of offense.
Coach Briolet commented after the game, “Our offensive line created holes and we were able to move the ball. We need to start more quickly, but overall the boys showed improvement in many areas compared to our first game.Our defense played very well this afternoon.”
Lakes looks to make it 3 straight wins this Saturday, September 7 at 6:00 p.m. at Notre Dame Marist.
