Visiting the Residents from Lourdes

Last Friday, the 10th of February, our church hosted a ceremony as well as refreshments and snacks afterwards for the residents of Lourdes Nursing Home. Our eighth grade students each partnered up with a resident. As each student buddied up, the Bishop and our associate pastor prepared for the Mass. Every student got a chance to introduce themselves and get to know their partner. At Mass, each elderly woman and man got the sacrament of Anointing the Sick. Coming from me, a student, I had a wonderful time seeing all the happy faces as they received the sacrament.

    

Afterwards, our class each took their buddies to have a nice snack and drink before the busses departed for Lourdes. It was extremely gratifying to sit down and be involved in this activity. I enjoyed helping and the company of my partner, Shirley. I’m sure she enjoyed the company and being able to have a nice conversation with one of us as well. I assume the eighth graders will be involved in many more activities such as this as they are approaching their confirmation this year. Our class would love to do something like this again soon.
