Rick is inspired by several things in his life. Firstly by his wife and by her love and devotion to family. She is always talking about the importance of family. They are married for better or worse in sickness and health. Secondly, by the ability to have a positive impact on children’s lives. Students fist bump him in the hallways and always come to class excited. Students keep Rick going and are the reason I love teaching. Students who love being taught, love to listen, and are determined to do well inspire him on a daily basis. Lastly, staying in contact with former students who are grateful for the time spent with Rick also inspires him.

Rick is extremely excited to be in a faith based community. He is grateful to be working in a smaller school community which will give him a greater opportunity to connect with students individually. He is looking forward to being able to make connections with some amazing kids and staff in a friendly environment. "I have heard from others that OLL is such a support and kind environment. During my interview I was so impressed with the concern that the staff at OLL has for each child", says Rick. 

Rick loves Catholic school because it gives him the opportunity to look forward to being in a faith based community that is like a family and children are seen in a whole child perspective.  "The ability to attend Mass and pray at school means so much to me", says Rick.

One quote he loves in regards to Catholic educaiton is: "Catholic schools also have the advantage of not having as many burdensome tasks and mandates to fulfill compared to their public school counterparts, allowing teachers to “focus more on teaching and less on filling out forms.” - Deacon Costello
