Lakes 5/6 Boys found themselves down 9 points midway through the third quarter on Saturday against Our Lady Queen of Martyrs. From that point Brody Rotter and the Lakes defense took over, as Lakes made an incredible comeback and won their second straight game 22-20. Rotter scored 13 of his game high 17 points in the second half. Alex Asai chipped in 4 points, but it was the defensive effort that made the difference.
Coach Blose commented after the game, “At halftime I told the boys this is their game to win. Pick up the intensity on defense and stop #5, who had scored 10 points in the first half (0 in the 2nd half). Besides a basket at the buzzer, our boys held Martyrs to 1 point over a +9 minute stretch, which was amazing. Alex Asai, Jack Blose, Jack Miller and Latane Ware played incredible defense and contested every shot. Brody Rotter is a special player and was the catalyst in our comeback win.”
