Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School would like to recognize Senior Kristina Carver on her outstanding Powerlifting accomplishments this past season. Kristina competed at the Michigan High School State Powerlifting meet at North Branch High School on March 8, 2020 and took 2nd place in her weight class! She had an overall total of 700 pounds with a 275 Squat, 125 Bench and 300 Deadlift. “We believed in you when you doubted yourself!” said Coach Mullins. This win shouldn’t be a complete surprise, while competing at the JV level, Kristina broke four state records and won states.
For more on Kristina, we turned to high school math teacher Ms. Zaleski: ”Kristina Carver is not only one of the kindest and most compassionate young women I know, she is absolutely dedicated to her studies and athletics. She never gives up. Even when we are learning very challenging material in AP Calculus, Kristina perseveres and with a positive attitude. Even when she is challenged, she maintains her smile. She doesn’t let the difficulties she faces get her down. I see this not only in the classroom but in her athletics and her life as well. She always rises to the challenges that life throws her way.”
Amazing work from another of our outstanding seniors!
