Quinn Robak has raised $1,200 for Gianna House as part of her Capstone Project. Gianna House began in 2009 after being transformed from the convent at St. Veronica Church in Eastpointe. Since then hundreds of young pregnant, at-risk girls and women have received support for their pregnancies and their infants. Gianna House is named after St. Gianna, patron saint of mothers and unborn children. She died after the birth of her 4 th child and was willing to give her life to preserve her child’s right to life. (See the picture of St. Gianna with her baby)
On December 26, 2022 the PVC fire prevention pipes burst on the 3 rd floor. The water poured down flooding the floors and traveling down to the basement. The flooding damaged bathrooms, offices, kitchen, and community spaces. All the donations that were stored in the basement were destroyed including, diapers, wipes, formula, clothes baby furniture, car seats and strollers. (Photo shown of the bare basement)
Quinn Robak decided to make Gianna House her Capstone Project. She toured the facility and accessed what was needed and how she could help this Catholic Pro- Life Organization. Her planned bagel sale could not take place because of the weather and snow day at OLL. Quin and her classmates helped sell Tootsie Pops to add to her project. She planned a casual day with the approval of Mrs. Kenny. Fr. Scott challenged her with another casual day, March 16 th , (actually it was a Mass day) if she could raise $500. She accepted the challenge and raised a whopping $1,200. She purchased lots of diapers, wipes, formula, and gift cards for low-income families. Thank you to everyone who contributed to her project. Quinn will deliver her baby donations this week.
