Our Lady of the Lakes 5/6 Football won their 5th straight game (and 4th consecutive shutout) this season with a convincing 42-0 victory over St. Isaac Jogues on Saturday night. Solid blocking and hard running staked Lakes to 24-0 lead after the first quarter, as Geno Seets (40 yards), Gavin Bond (63 yards) and Alex Asai (25 yards) all found the Charger end zone. Chris York successfully made all three conversion kick attempts. Lakes added to their lead in the second quarter on a Gavin Bond touchdown run (13 yards) and went into the half leading 30-0. A Nico Bracali touchdown (1 yard) and Hayden Houghton 81 yard interception return closed out the scoring on the evening.
Coach Briolat commented after the game, “Our offensive line played their best game of the season. The holes they opened for our running backs were awesome. Our running backs did a great job and ran hard all game. Defensively our boys played tough Laker football, only allowing 2 first downs in the second half. We had contributions from all 31 players. Our goal all season was to play for the division championship, which the boys get to do this Friday against Guardian Knights. We will tighten up a few things during this short week of practice and have the them ready to play. Our parents have been loud all season, but we need them to up the noise level a notch this Friday.”
Lakes looks to make it 6 straight wins this Friday, September 27 at 5:30 p.m. against Guardian Knights at Wisner Stadium.
