This past weekend the Lady Lakers Cross Country team made school history finishing first overall at the MHSAA Cross Country Regional 36-4 meet guaranteeing them a team appearance at the State Final. For the fifth time in the past six seasons a Lady Laker was crowned as Regional Champion.
Senior Olivia Hankey lead the race from start to finish winning with a course time of 19:28, which automatically qualified her for the State Final. Lakes had four other runners who individually qualified for the State Final based on their top 15 finishes; Josie Ware (10th place), Kari Romkema (13th place), Kailey Koshorek (14th place), and Bailee Pfahl (15th place). Team members Elizabeth Ware and Stephanie Carver will also advance to the State Final based on the team’s finish.
State Finals take place on Saturday, November 4th at Michigan International Speedway. The girls team will be running at 9:30 a.m.
