Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School’s Homecoming celebration this year was a huge success. This year we celebrated decades and began by decorating the hallways of the high school to get everyone in the true Laker spirit. Both middle and high school students played games on Wednesday and Thursday with the senior class dominating. The big upset was in the Powderpuff football game when the Junior girls tackled their way to a 21-7 victory over the Seniors. This year we were delighted for the elementary students to join us in games on Thursday.
The football game was blessed with nice clear skies in a calm between the Saturday storms. The Lakers fought their way to a 40-6 victory over rivals Cardinal Mooney. The halftime show was a big treat as the classes took the field to present banners made to represent each class. The homecoming court was then presented, driven out on the field in classic cars brought by the Pennington and Kotulis families. Last year’s King, Vincent Oliver and Queen Abby Hoffman were back to crown this year’s winners. A big congratulations to King, Kyle Cartier and Queen, Rachel Ferguson.
The dance began at 7 p.m. and was quite the affair! The Juniors did an amazing job of decorating for the “All that Jazz” themed dance. The music was great and the photobooth was a big hit with students. They danced under the chandelier until the wee hours of 10 p.m. when everyone went home to rest and recover from all the fun times. It was truly a great week for students, staff and alumni to celebrate all the great things that make us so proud to be Lakers!
