Twenty-two Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School students and chaperones were blessed to attend the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC). The conference was held in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Lucas Oil Stadium and Indiana Convention Center on November 21-24, 2019. This was a life changing, biannual four-day experience of prayer, music, workshops, liturgy, Reconciliation and empowerment for Roman Catholic teenagers. The schedule included general and breakout sessions addressing a wide variety of topics that empowered our young people to be missionary disciples.
It was easy to witness Christ moving within the hearts of the NCYC pilgrims both young and old. The weekend opened with a special message from Pope Francis; this was the first time that a sitting pope has addressed NCYC. Friday had a profoundly reverent Adoration with the 25,000 teens and adults attended. You could hear a pin drop during Adoration at Lucas Oil Stadium. It was something to behold! Archbishop Thompson of Indianapolis was the celebrant for the closing Mass on Saturday. It was apparent that Christ was alive and was present at the 2019 NCYC. God overflowed his presence as we were truly Blessed * Broken * Given.
